Main Street, Little Thetford, Ely

This project was a complete home refurbishment carried out by Lyon Construction for our client Helen, at 38 Main Street, Little Thetford, Ely.

Helen trusted our team to manage the entire renovation, including painting, new flooring, new carpets, electrical work, and a full bathroom refurbishment. The goal was to modernise and refresh the entire property while keeping it warm, comfortable, and practical.

Scope of Works

•Painting & Decorating:

Full interior repaint. All walls were repaired, filled, sanded, and finished to a clean, modern standard throughout every room.

•Flooring Installation:

We supplied and fitted new laminate flooring (Algala finish) throughout the main areas of the house.

The flooring presented a major challenge: the kitchen had an extension, and the original dividing wall had been removed, leaving an uneven subfloor between the two sections.

Instead of carrying out costly screeding and levelling, we proposed a clever and affordable solution — adding a step transition between the areas. This created a natural, stylish divide while keeping the overall look smooth and cohesive.

Helen loved the idea and was pleased with the result, both visually and financially.

•Carpet Replacement:

We removed all old carpets and installed new, high-quality carpets in the bedrooms and living spaces to add warmth and comfort.

•Electrical Work:

We carried out electrical improvements throughout the property, including updating sockets and fittings to modern standards.

•Bathroom Renovation:

A complete bathroom renovation, including removal of all old fixtures and tiles, retiling, new plumbing connections, and installation of a modern bathroom suite.

Result

The entire project was completed in just 3 weeks, fully on schedule.
Helen’s home was transformed from dated and uneven to bright, balanced, and beautifully finished.
